Brastech pioneers Riser Floats Repair and Retrofitting in Brazil. Our technical staff were trained and qualified in compliance with the standards and procedures used by the manufacturer Emerson & Cumming.

In order to satisfy market demands, the company came to Macaé in 1996, when there were no companies qualified to carry out these services. From 1996 to 2007, about 9000 floats were overhauled/retrofitted.

The Overhauling of Riser Floats, requires a very elaborated process as well as technical and management infra-structure in order to ensure excellent final result in the repair of parts. Besides maximum environment temperature and humidity, this type of service requires, appropriate personal protection equipment and special waste collection.

So as to ensure the efficacy of the repair, the company has adequate infrastructure for recording initial and final buoyancy of parts, assessing the degree of efficacy of the repair carried out.

The parts identification process is extremely important. As per operating requirements, each part has specific building characteristics, identified by the colour of the band specific to each part. For this reason, as soon as floats arrive at the company base, they are properly identified with their serial number and operating characteristics,  thus minimizing the risk of miss identification of the final part, after finishing.

As far as the classification of the type of service is concerned, it is done based on a detailed assessment of each part received for repair, checking for the need of structural strengthening, resetting sections, change or repair out skin,  or simply paint... Brastech is qualified to carry out any Riser Float Overhauling service whatever the level of repair required.
